Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Avoid this company. This business is currently trading as Recon Engines Ltd, but it is directly linked to Sian Autocentre / Sian Autocentral, which was the subject of a BBC News article titled “Engine reconditioning shock”. The BBC article describes a very worrying business model: low initial quotes, long delays, then suddenly much higher prices, and when customers want their cars back, they are asked to pay a large amount of money just to get their own vehicle returned – sometimes in pieces. This is not just my opinion – this is documented by BBC News. The fact that the company had to change its name from Sian Autocentre / Sian Autocentral to Recon Engines Ltd should make everyone extremely cautious. Please do proper research before using this company. Based on the history and the number of complaints, I strongly recommend staying away.Posted on Piotr PiotrTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Terrible customer service. Just a bunch of liars trying to scam people. My price estimate was originally 2.5k and they ended up giving me a bill of over 5k. They rebuilt my engine and it blew up again after 1.5k miles. STAY AWAY!!!!Posted on Jakub RusekTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Currently in dispute with this company. Communication is extremely poor — I rarely receive responses, so it feels like I’m talking to myself. My car was returned to me after a new engine was fitted at a cost of £5,000, but it was clearly incomplete. I was told I needed a new fuel pump, though they said a reconditioned one would be “fine for the time being.” When I collected the vehicle, the engine noise was horrific. I was assured it would settle down — it never did. At idle, the car jerked violently, and both issues only worsened over time. I haven’t driven the car much since, yet an oil sensor warning has now appeared. I had the vehicle inspected by a highly skilled independent mechanic, who confirmed the issue is timing chain related, meaning the engine needs to be stripped again. This defect is entirely the responsibility of Recon Engines Ltd. They have been provided with a professional report clearly outlining the fault, yet they continue to ignore me and refuse to resolve the issue. As a result, I am now forced to pursue legal action to recover the £5,000 I paid. This situation has had a serious impact on my work, as I rely on my vehicle to transport equipment. It has also significantly affected my mental health due to the stress and uncertainty. For context, my car was with them from the second week of June 2025 until 1st August 2025. I genuinely expected a properly rebuilt engine with no major issues. Sadly, that expectation was completely wrong. Awful experience. Awful service. Please avoid this company.Posted on Soph AceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience getting my car engine reconditioned here. The entire process was clearly explained from start to finish, and the communication was Good. The initial quote looked lower, but once they completed a proper diagnosis and identified parts that needed replacement, the estimate was adjusted—something they were very transparent about.Posted on Tippaluru VamseeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have never felt so blatantly scammed in my life. I decided to test the trust of this garage and I walked out scammed of 108£ for absolutely nothing to show for it. They charged for “car collection” that clearly never happened, I decided to cancel the car collection for an engine rebuild the next day. They dragged me for weeks with different excuses refusing to refund the 108£. I wander what is going to happen if you actually start a job with this people? AVOID at all costs!Posted on A VTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very professional service from this company. Only watch point is engine rebuild will cost a lot more than initial quote with ANY company due to the cost of ancillaries. Overall however, despite the unavoidable cost, and time it takes to do such a a job, we were fully satisfied and fully recommend this company with a 5* rating.Posted on Tony DruryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great rebuild. I gave them a Mini which sounded like a bag of spanners and received a silky smooth, brand new engine in return.Posted on Steve CookseyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
